Helping us

How you can help:

Make a donation

donate_buttonLeicestershire Wildlife Hospital receives no government funding.  We rely completely on the generosity of our supporters and the proceeds of fundraising events.  You can help us continue to save many more wild lives by making a donation through our JustGiving page.  If you are making a donation, please consider completing the application form to become a Friend too.

What will you give?
£10.00 will pay for a course of antibiotics for birds attacked by predators.
£15.00 gives essential warmth to an injured animal for a week.
£35.00 buys milk formula for a litter of orphaned hedgehogs for one week.
£50.00 will pay for an x-ray on an animal involved in road traffic accident.
£100.00 will enable us to buy life saving equipment.
£1,000 will sponsor a small enclosure.
£1,500 will sponsor a medium enclosure.
£3,000 will sponsor a large enclosure.

Become a Friend of the hospital

In 2013 we introduced our Friendship scheme which took the place of membership. Any existing members were automatically transferred onto the new scheme.

It’s easy to become our Friend.  All we ask is that you make a total annual contribution of £15 or more.

As a Friend you will:

  • receive a complimentary copy of our twice yearly newsletter, Your Wildlife Matters, published in October and April
  • be invited to visit the hospital on Friends only events – this is a great opportunity for you to find out more about the wildlife we treat and the work we do
  • support our vital work with wildlife

Download the application form and join our growing circle of Friends today.

Sponsor a resident

We have several permanent residents at the hospital who cannot be returned to the wild for a variety of reasons.  You can contribute to their care by sponsoring one of them for just £10 a year.  These sponsorships make fantastic gifts and are ideal for birthdays, special occasions and Christmas.  You, or your recipient, will receive a beautifully handmade card bearing a photo of your chosen resident, details about its history and a sponsorship certificate.  Available to sponsor are:

  • Barny – barn owl
  • One-eyed Jack – little owl
  • Flora – hedgehog
  • Cumberpatch – badger (female)
  • Dale – badger
  • Sleepy – tawny owl

Organise a fundraising event

This may not be as difficult as it seems.  You may enjoy walking and get sponsorship from your pub or society. You may grow flowers or vegetables and sell a few, donating the profits. Or perhaps you want to organise a coffee morning or jumble sale.

If you are planning an event in support of Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital, do remember to tell us so that we can let everyone else know about it too!

Food and bedding

See our Items needed page where we have listed items used on a daily basis at the hospital.

Unwanted items

For fundraising, we welcome:

  • Your unwanted gifts that we can use as raffle/tombola prizes
  • Good quality items that we can sell on our bric-a-brac and clothing stall

You can bring your unwanted items to our monthly coffee morning held at Kibworth Village Hall on the second Saturday of every month, or deliver them to the hospital – but please telephone us first on 0795 1285 366 so that we know you are coming.
